"Paint your world"
About Judith Levins
To Paint all I can see~
If you found Judy's high school yearbook, you'd see a caption under her photo: 'To paint all I can see, for that is my destiny.' She knew from the beginning that art was her passion and her place in the world.
Judy graduated from The New England School of Art and Design in Boston Massachusetts. Along with working as a freelance illustrator and designer for many years, she also taught as an instructor of figure drawing and textile rendering at The New England School of Fashion Design in Boston. In 2008, while living and creating in Northern Virginia, Judy founded a cottage business called Lot 5 Studio. She participated in two consecutive annual open studio weekends with WLAST, (Western Loudoun Artist Studio Tour). She also was a founding member of a regional art group called, CHAT (Cactoctin Holiday Art Tour).
In 2011 Judy and her husband relocated to a charming lake community tucked into the pastoral landscape of upstate New York. Judy draws inspiration from the nature and wildlife that surround her, she paints with watercolor using expressive fluid strokes to capture her subject, whether it's a vibrant bouquet of flowers picked fresh from her garden or a child's portrait conveying joy and wonder.
She sees painting as a two-way conversation. 'There's so much beauty in our world, and I hope to help people open their senses to it. To notice the light dancing on the petals of a flower, or gaze on a field of wildflowers shining brilliantly against a bold blue sky. If I can reach somebody that way, to paint my world and have them pause for a moment, to see the beauty that surrounds us, then I have shared a moment with them and that's a really good thing.
